Trump launches broadside at RINO Mitt Romney, sticks him with a new nickname that is not only true but hilarious

Former President Donald Trump is renowned for sticking his political opponents with catchy nicknames they can never live down, and now, he’s given a new one to RINO Sen. Mitt Romney.

OPINION: This article may contain commentary which reflects the author’s opinion.

The Utah Republican has yet to announce if he’ll be running again for reelection next year. He’s already got a serious GOP challenger who is likely to give him a run for his money and may even be able to win a primary.

Meantime, Trump has saddled Romney with the name “Kryptonite.”

“Mitt’s a loser. He’s been a loser for a long time. He has no respect in the Republican Party. He’s a terrible Republican. I think he’s terrible for the nation also,” Trump said in response to news that Romney’s launched a new plan to keep Trump from winning the GOP nomination.

“I saw him marching with the Antifa and the groups down in Washington with his mask on—you couldn’t even see his face. They were marching, and these were real terrorists—very bad people he was marching with. He didn’t even know the difference,” he added, according to Breitbart News.

“No, Mitt’s really—I think having him, I call him Kryptonite. If he endorses somebody, that person loses. I had a couple people I endorsed, they took a big lead, and then all of a sudden I saw their lead was gone. What happened? They associated them with Mitt Romney,” Trump continued.

“Once they became disassociated, they went back up. But in those cases, they truly wanted to be disassociated. Mitt’s a loser. The right candidate will beat him,” Trump added. “It’s a great state. The right candidate will beat him—I think beat him easily.”

Romney is being challenged by a rising GOP star in the state. Riverton, Utah, Mayor Trent Staggs announced in May that he is seeking the Republican nomination for the seat.

“Right now, Washington is broken,” Staggs said in a video announcing his candidacy. “And every time we compromise, it costs us trillions.

“We have more IRS agents than border agents. And while we’re paying $4 a gallon for gas, they’re sending our money unchecked to Ukraine. Now, we’re almost $32 trillion in debt. Enough is enough,” he added.

He went on to note how, several years ago, Romney “moved to Utah and told us what he’d fight for.”

At the time, Romney pledged to end illegal immigration, putting America “on a path to a balanced budget” and to “push back against federal overreach and to confirm judges who follow the Constitution.”

But he didn’t work toward those goals, Staggs said.

“The only thing I’ve seen [Romney] fight for are the establishment, wokeness, open borders, impeaching President Trump and putting us even deeper into debt,” Staggs said.
