Donald Trump Jr. is certain he knows why Joe Biden’s Justice Department picked Thursday to indict his father, former President Donald Trump.
In a tweet, Trump Jr. said the timing of the indictment was designed to mask what Republicans had learned about Biden earlier in the day.
“On the same day that a story broke about a whistleblower alleging Joe Biden took a 5 million dollar bribe from Burisma in Ukraine, Biden’s corrupt DOJ decides to indict Trump over BS charges. Do you really think that’s a coincidence?” Trump Jr. noted on Twitter.

As reported by Fox News earlier on Thursday, sources told the outlet that “Biden was allegedly paid $5 million by an executive of the Ukrainian natural gas firm Burisma Holdings, where his son Hunter Biden sat on the board, a confidential human source told the FBI during a June 2020 interview.”
“The sources briefed Fox News Digital on the contents of the FBI-generated FD-1023 form alleging a criminal bribery scheme between then-Vice President Joe Biden and a foreign national that involved influence over U.S. policy decisions,” the outlet noted further.
The FD-1023 form, dated June 30, 2020, includes an interview conducted by the FBI with a confidential source considered to be “highly credible.” According to the source, it contains information about multiple meetings and conversations that took place with a senior executive from Burisma over a span of several years, starting in 2015.
North Carolina Republican Rep. Nancy Mace made a similar observation Thursday evening during an appearance on Fox News.
In an interview with host Harris Faulkner, Mace said every time Republicans appear to find new evidence of alleged wrongdoing by Joe Biden and his family, it’s former President Donald Trump who gets charged with something.
“What I’m feeling tonight, I want to be very clear here, Donald Trump and I have had our ups and downs. I’ve been very clear about that over the last couple of years. I want the American people to know, to make no mistake, this is the Executive Branch tonight trying to take out their number one opponent for the presidency of the United States in 2024,” Mace said.
“And they have one standard for Donald Trump and another standard for everybody else in this thing. If you look at the documents that President Biden had in his possession, in his garage, thousands of boxes God knows where in places across the country that we don’t even know yet,” she added.
“Hillary Clinton having a server in her bathroom in her home with classified information on private email servers. Everyone is held to a different standard but Donald Trump. Joe Biden just secured Donald Trump’s nomination for Republicans in 2024,” the North Carolina Republican continued.
“Looking at how they’re treating him in one way versus everybody else. Every time Biden comes under the microscope, every time we show corruption by Joe Biden and his family, there’s an indictment on Donald Trump. When you look at the standard he has, it’s a double standard, a second tier of justice in this country. The American people want everybody to be treated the same,” she told the Fox host.
“Donald Trump is no fan of mine. He primaried me last year. I’m not a shill, but I see this, how unfair it’s been. And I just can’t believe this is happening,” she noted.
“Two days ago, I said this would happen on the day we either held in contempt Christopher Wray with the FBI or we got access to those documents. I predicted it, and it came true. This is a banana republic. I just can not believe this is actually happening. He’s trying to take out his political opponent,” she said.
“Every time Biden comes under the microscope, every time we show corruption by Joe Biden and his family, there’s an indictment on Donald Trump… I can’t believe this is happening,” she added.
