Jim Jordan’s panel hears emotional testimony from FBI whistleblower over alleged abuses by the agency

FBI Whistleblower Garret O’Boyle’s opening statement from his recent House “Weaponization of Government” committee hearing discussed his experience at the FBI, including a “smear campaign” against him.

At times, his testimony was emotional, and it was obvious to committee chairman Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) the agent did not want to be in the position of having to detail the FBI’s shortcomings.

But he obviously duty-bound to do so, and his words proved that. He also said his oath was to the Constitution, not the FBI.

“Too many in the FBI aren’t willing to sacrifice for the hard right over the easy wrong. They see what becomes of whistleblowers. How the FBI destroys their careers, suspends them under false pretenses, takes their security clearance and pay with no true options for real recourse or remedy,” he said. “This is by design. It creates an Orwellian atmosphere that silences opposition and discussion.”

“I couldn’t knowingly and silently continue on this path without speaking out against the weaponization I witnessed,” he said. “All I wanted to do was serve my country by stopping bad guys and protecting the innocent. To my chagrin, bad guys have begun running parts of the government, making it difficult to continue to serve this nation.”

He added: “The FBI will crush you. This government will crush you and your family if you try to expose the truth about things they are doing that are wrong.”
