The long-awaited report from Department of Justice Special Counsel John Durham, who was appointed by former Attorney General Bill Barr in 2019 to investigate the origins of the Trump-Russia probe known as “Operation Crossfire Hurricane,” has finally been released to the public.
On Monday, Sean Davis, the co-founder and CEO of The Federalist, took to Twitter to share a series of tweets disclosing that his publication had obtained the 306-page report and proceeded to outline several of the conclusions reached within it.
“Special prosecutor John Durham concluded that ‘neither U.S. nor the Intelligence Community appears to have possessed any actual evidence of collusion in their holdings at the commencement of the Crossfire Hurricane investigation,’” Davis wrote.

Durham’s report noted: “FBI records prepared by [Peter] Strzok in February and March 2017 show that at the time of the opening of Crossfire Hurricane, the FBI had no information in its holdings indicating that at any time during the campaign anyone in the Trump had been in contact with any Russian intelligence officials.”
Davis stated that, based on the report, it is confirmed that the FBI, towards the end of President Barack Obama’s term, made an unsuccessful effort to obtain a FISA warrant for surveillance purposes involving George Papadopoulos, who had served as a foreign policy adviser to Trump during the 2016 period.
According to the 306-page Durham report, the Obama FBI tried and failed to obtain a FISA warrant to spy on George Papadopoulos.

Davis also confirmed that the FBI could not corroborate any details or allegations levied in the damning Steele dossier.
“Durham concluded the Steele dossier was a complete joke and that the FBI failed to corroborate any of its key claims: ‘Our investigation determined that the Crossfire Hurricane investigators did not and could not corroborate any of the substantive allegations contained in the Steele reporting,'” Davis tweeted.

In the wake of the bombshell release, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) said he has reached out to DOJ to request testimony from Durham for “next week.”
Online reaction to the news was mixed, but several social media users not only yawned at the news but asked what would become of the officials and former who fabricated the investigation of Trump and wasted American taxpayer resources to carry it out.
Given that Joe Biden is now president, we’re not holding our breath here.
