Mary Peltola, the Alaska Democratic Senate candidate who has become a pet project of Squad darling Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, is now fighting allegations that she dropped the n-word against a Black Army veteran after a fundraising dinner went sideways. Great look for the party that never shuts up about being the moral conscience of America.
According to Alaska Landmine, the alleged incident happened after an October 2024 dinner honoring nearly 4,000 Black soldiers. Peltola’s campaign had shelled out $8,000 on tables for the event, per FEC records, after Ed Wesley, a Black Army veteran and former president of the Anchorage NAACP, reportedly assured her the tables would be filled. They weren’t. And that’s apparently when things got ugly.
An unnamed former staffer told Alaska Landmine that Peltola said, “I can’t believe that n, with the staffer adding that Peltola also repeatedly called Wesley a “scammer.” You can Mary Peltola racial slur allegations and decide for yourself what to make of it. Peltola’s campaign denied the whole thing, calling it “part of a smear campaign driven by an unstable, disgruntled former staffer who was fired.” A spokesperson added, “Mary would never use this word, which is a vile slur with a painful, hateful history.”
This isn’t even the first round of workplace allegations against her. Peltola had already been accused of angry outbursts, using other offensive terms including “retard” and the f-word for gay people, and even physically shoving a male employee. Democrats: the party of kindness and inclusion, apparently, unless you work for one of them.
AOC threw her fundraising muscle behind Peltola back in January, rallying her legion of small-dollar donors to open their wallets for the Alaska race. When The Post asked AOC for comment on the n-word allegations, she did not respond. Shocking. The woman has an opinion on literally everything until suddenly she doesn’t.
Peltola is challenging incumbent Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan in a race that could affect the balance of power in the Senate. Democrats have been calling her recruitment a coup, and she does bring an unusual profile: she was the only Democrat endorsed by the NRA in 2024, and during her House tenure she lobbied the Biden administration for Arctic drilling and boasted about getting ConocoPhillips’ $8 billion Willow Project approved. The Squad’s favorite candidate is out here greenlighting oil pipelines. You really can’t make this stuff up.
The race is tight. The latest polling has Peltola up just two percentage points over Sullivan, which means every new headline like this one is exactly the kind of thing her campaign doesn’t need. Sen. Sullivan will be watching the Alaska Landmine closely.
