Reporters from The Maine Wire are on the ground in Lewiston, Maine as early voting kicks off, and what they’re seeing is raising a lot of eyebrows. NGOs are busing groups of Somali voters to polling places, and the translators helping those voters cast ballots appear to be paid by taxpayer-funded organizations.
Lewiston is basically Minneapolis but with more lobster. The southern Maine city has a large Somali population, and if nonprofits are shuttling people to the polls with government-funded translators holding their hands, it’s not exactly a mystery which party benefits. Nobody’s running a get-out-the-vote bus for the local gun club.
Commentator Steve Robinson described what Maine Wire reporter Jon watched unfold at Lewiston City Hall:
“Yesterday in Lewiston, @TheMaineWire Reporter @MaineWireJon watched Somali ‘translators’ help several elderly Somalis vote. Notably, all the ‘translators’ work for taxpayer-funded NGOs and Medicaid agencies. This is how you turn a working class town into a Dem stronghold.”
Robinson went further in a follow-up post, laying out what he sees as the whole racket. He wrote that Somali voter busing in Maine involves a specific network of NGOs, Medicaid businesses, EBT operations, and other taxpayer-funded programs, not the broader Somali community. His description of the arrangement was blunt: “The quid pro quo with Democrats is clear: We give you votes, you protect the money.”
Robinson also alleged that some of the same translators photographed posing with Maine Democrat Hannah Pingree were the next day escorting voters at City Hall, running buses from taxpayer-funded housing, and, in his words, “violating all electioneering rules to pack ballot boxes with foreigner votes.” That’s a pretty full schedule for people on the public dime.
A Maine Wire reporter standing outside Lewiston City Hall documented what he called multiple instances of NGOs dropping off groups of Somalis to vote, with translators present throughout. When he tried to question one of the translators directly, he got the cold shoulder. Transparency is apparently not part of the taxpayer-funded package.
If you can't speak English, then you shouldn't be allowed to vote.

Democrats and their friends in the press love to wave off any concern about this kind of organized voter mobilization as fringe conspiracy thinking. But somebody should probably explain why nonprofits are running shuttle services to polling places, why the interpreters helping people vote are on government payrolls, and why a reporter asking a simple question gets stonewalled outside City Hall. Those aren’t conspiracy theories. Those are just questions, and the silence is its own kind of answer.
Expect more footage and reporting from Lewiston as early voting continues. If the pattern holds, expect Democrats to keep not explaining any of it.
Are you outraged yet? Because you should be. This is what Democrats do… they waste your taxes on third-worlders to scam elections instead of fixing your potholes.
