Ilhan Omar says she’s not a millionaire. Her bank account, apparently, did not get that memo. According to the Washington Free Beacon, Omar and her husband Tim Mynett reported a net worth between $6 million and $30 million in their 2025 financial disclosure.
That’s a jaw-dropping jump. Disclosures from late 2023 showed the couple had ownership stakes worth just above $51,000. So somewhere between then and now, things got very comfortable for the self-described champion of the working class.
Omar, of course, has a ready explanation, and it involves her favorite villain: the right wing. Ilhan Omar net worth disclosure “Since getting elected, there has been a coordinated right-wing disinformation campaign claiming all sorts of wild things, including the ridiculous claim I am worth millions of dollars which is categorically false,” she told Business Insider. Nothing says “I’m not rich” like having a financial disclosure that lists up to $30 million.
A big chunk of that wealth appears to flow from her husband’s firm, Rose Lake Capital, which is valued between $5 million and $25 million according to the disclosures. So the money is real, it’s documented, and it’s sitting right there in government paperwork, but sure, blame the right wing.
And let’s not forget about the White House? President Donald Trump noticed the issues with Ilhan Omar’s money scandal and had this posted on X: “Why did Ilhan Omar report a Net Worth of up to 30 Million Dollars just a short time ago, and then immediately say, ‘Oh, I made a mistake! It’s really $100,000.’… America wants answers, and we want them, NOW!” – President Donald J. Trump.
The White House also added this screenshot of Trump’s post on Truth Social:

Yeah, because she’s probably wrapped up in scandals higher than her hijab and this is going to require a proper investigation.
Omar is also catching heat back home in Minnesota, where she said she has no regrets about supporting the MEALS Act in 2020, despite that legislation being linked to the massive “Feeding Our Future” fraud scandal involving allegedly vacant daycares. No regrets, no millions, no problems, apparently.
What happens next is anyone’s guess, but Omar shows no signs of slowing down, whether that’s the speechmaking, the disinformation deflections, or, apparently, the wealth accumulation. Just don’t call her a millionaire. She finds that ridiculous.
