Attorney General Todd Blanche just dropped a five-year-old bomb right on Merrick Garland’s head. On the anniversary of Garland’s notorious school-board memo, Blanche released a full Justice Department report, hundreds of exhibits, and a pile of emails showing exactly how the Biden administration went after parents who dared show up angry at school meetings.
The report is titled the “Report to Expose the Weaponization of Government Against Parents in Schools,” and it does not pull punches. Blanche said the documents prove the Garland DOJ worked “hand in hand” with White House officials and the National School Boards Association to, in his words, “chill free speech and parental rights.” They even tried to rope in the National Security Division. The National Security Division. For parents complaining about mask mandates and critical race theory at PTA meetings.
According to Blanche, DOJ staff repeatedly warned leadership that what they were doing could be unconstitutional, and leadership pushed ahead anyway. That detail alone tells you everything about how the Garland Justice Department operated: the lawyers said it might be illegal, and the bosses said do it anyway. Very cool, very normal government behavior. the DOJ report on targeting parents
Blanche put it plainly, saying the Garland DOJ directed the FBI and U.S. Attorneys to find a “federal hook” to prosecute parents who were simply exercising their right to free speech. The word “domestic terrorists” got thrown around for moms and dads who were mad about what their kids were being taught. Five years later, the receipts are finally public, and they confirm what a lot of Americans already suspected.
The new report is the current DOJ’s effort to put the whole ugly episode on the official record. Blanche released it alongside the exhibits and emails so that anyone who wants to see exactly how it unfolded can do exactly that, no guesswork required.
What happens next is the real question. The documents are out, the coordination is documented, and the warnings from staff are on the record. Whether any of the officials involved face real consequences remains to be seen, but at least now nobody can claim they didn’t know. If you want a government that works for parents instead of against them, maybe start by not letting federal agencies call them terrorists for showing up to school board meetings. Just a thought.
