Former First Lady Michelle Obama and actress Sharon Stone spent part of Obama’s podcast imagining what the world would look like if men could get pregnant, apparently without either woman pausing to check what Democratic witnesses have been saying under oath on Capitol Hill.
“If men could get pregnant, you could get an abortion from a vending machine,” Stone said, with Obama laughing along. Stone added that “maternity leave would be when you got the bonus.” Obama had her own material ready. “Men would film themselves going into labor, and honoring their pain, you know? There would be trophies given,” she said, describing “the birth-Olympics” and playing the part of one man congratulating another: “Well done, dude! Bob, you did that without an epidural!”
Michelle didn’t realize what she did during this conversation though, as she’s joking about it the same way everyone else does, because it’s ridiculous to think men can get pregnant. Sick of hearing about it? Yes, everyone is.
What Democrats’ Own Witnesses Said Under Oath
Good comedy bit. Awkward policy position. Because the entire premise, that men cannot get pregnant, is the same one Democratic-invited witnesses have repeatedly rejected before Congress. In May 2022, Aimee Arrambide, executive director of the abortion rights nonprofit Avow Texas, testified before the House Judiciary Committee as a Democratic witness. When Rep. Dan Bishop (R-N.C.) asked whether men can become pregnant and have abortions, Arrambide answered simply: “Yes.”
A few months later, in September 2022, Dr. Bhavik Kumar, the medical director for primary and trans care at Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast, told the House Oversight and Reform Committee the same thing. “Men can have pregnancies, especially trans men,” Kumar said. Then, at a Senate hearing on chemical abortion drugs, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) put the question directly to Dr. Nisha Verma, a board-certified OB-GYN called by Democrats. Rather than answer, she retreated into identity-speak. “I hesitated there ’cause I wasn’t sure where the conversation was going or what the goal was,” Verma said, before adding: “I do take care of patients with different identities.” You can read Michelle Obama men can get pregnant for the full breakdown of the exchanges.
The Left Can’t Have It Both Ways Forever
Here is the contradiction in plain English. On any given Monday, the left insists that trans men are men in every meaningful sense, biology is irrelevant, and anyone who says otherwise is a bigot. Then someone raises a women’s issue, and suddenly biological reality makes a convenient comeback for applause lines and podcast laughs.
Obama built an entire comedy routine on the premise that men cannot get pregnant. That is also the premise conservatives get shouted down and labeled bigots for stating publicly. The left’s own hand-selected medical experts have sworn before Congress that men can and do get pregnant, so the joke either validates conservative biology or it undermines the testimony their own side offered under the Capitol dome. It cannot do both.
For ordinary Americans trying to follow the logic, there is no consistent position here, only whichever claim is politically convenient in the moment. When the left’s best medical minds refuse to state basic biology in a Senate hearing, and the former First Lady is simultaneously giggling about it on a podcast, that is not a messaging problem. That is a reality problem. And sooner or later, voters tend to notice.
And then there’s the whole biology thing, but I guess we’ll save that for another day.
