B-1 Bombers Depart UK Base as Middle East Tensions Rise
Shortly after Trump’s departure from Camp David, a U.S. Air Force B-1B Lancer strategic bomber loaded with munitions was observed taking off from RAF Fairford Air Base in the United Kingdom. The timing drew immediate attention, though the White House issued no statement connecting the two events. According to Trump’s early return from Camp David, pool reporters confirmed they were given no information on the reason for the schedule change.
The schedule shift also came amid a flurry of Middle East diplomatic activity. Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, told Al Jazeera that Tehran had transmitted conditions to Washington through Qatari mediators aimed at ending the ongoing war. Rezaei said Iran’s terms included an end to fighting on all fronts, the release of frozen Iranian funds, and termination of the U.S. naval blockade, and that Tehran was awaiting a response from Trump. Reuters and other outlets reported that Iranian statements reference seven conditions in total, though the full list has not been made public.
