President Donald Trump’s most trusted aide has provided an update on an ongoing health scare she’s been dealing with for months.
White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles announced Wednesday that she is cancer-free after undergoing months of treatment for breast cancer. Wiles said pathology results from a recent appointment at the Mayo Clinic came back clear, marking a major milestone roughly six months after her diagnosis became public.
“After a medical appointment at the Mayo Clinic this week, my pathology results came back clear,” Wiles wrote on X. “I am cancer free.” Wiles thanked her family, friends, doctors and others who supported her throughout treatment. She also expressed gratitude to President Donald Trump, saying he had provided “unwavering support” during her illness.
Wiles said she intends to continue working in her role and helping advance the administration’s agenda. Her breast cancer diagnosis was first publicly disclosed in March. Administration officials said at the time that the cancer had been detected at an early stage and that doctors were optimistic about her prognosis.
Trump praised Wiles after the diagnosis, describing her as a fighter and expressing confidence that she would recover. Despite undergoing treatment, Wiles continued serving as White House chief of staff and remained closely involved in the administration’s day-to-day operations.
She did not take an extended leave from the White House and continued traveling and appearing alongside Trump during much of her treatment. Wiles became the first woman to serve as White House chief of staff when Trump returned to office in January 2025.
She had previously played a central role in Trump’s political operation, serving as co-chair of his successful 2024 presidential campaign and working on several of his earlier campaigns.
Her announcement drew congratulations from several administration officials, including Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who celebrated the news publicly. For Wiles, the update capped a six-month period in which she continued working through treatment while largely keeping the details of her medical care private. Specifics of the treatment she received have not been publicly disclosed. Her latest pathology results, however, provided the clearest update yet on her condition: no evidence of cancer was detected.
