Brian Stelter said the quiet part out loud Friday morning, and every American who missed Trump’s primetime address on election interference needs to understand exactly why they missed it.
“Some network executives felt it would be dangerous to just air Trump’s speech live, in full, unedited without knowing what he was going to say ahead of time.”
There it is. CNN — along with NBC and ABC — made a deliberate editorial decision to black out the President of the United States addressing the nation on the largest voter data breach in American history. Not because the information was false. Not because it violated any broadcast standard. Because network executives decided in advance, behind closed doors, that you shouldn’t be allowed to hear it unfiltered and form your own conclusions.
That’s not journalism. That’s a protection racket.
The speech contained declassified intelligence authenticated by the CIA director, the FBI director, the DNI, and the DHS secretary — revealing that China compromised 220 million American voter files, paid American journalists to write negative stories about Trump during his first term, and targeted swing states with a coordinated influence operation designed to defeat the sitting president. This is documented, authenticated, government-released intelligence about a direct attack on American democracy.
CNN decided you needed their filter before you could process it safely.

? WOW! CNN just ADMITTED that "media executives" made a decision behind closed doors to censor President Trump's bombshell election integrity address, which exposes Chinese involvement in our elections

Here is the part that should make every American furious: CNN spent years — years — breathlessly reporting every anonymous leak, every unnamed source, every piece of unverified opposition research about Russian collusion. They ran wall-to-wall coverage of a story that Robert Mueller’s exhaustive investigation ultimately found no evidence to support. They didn’t demand to see the Steele dossier ahead of time before airing it. They didn’t worry about broadcasting intelligence community assessments that turned out to be politically manufactured. They ran all of it, live, unfiltered, for three straight years, because the story served their preferred narrative.
But declassified documents authenticated by four cabinet officials describing Chinese election interference — that requires a warning label and a network blackout.
The Russia collusion story divided this country for years. Millions of Americans still believe things about the 2016 election that were never proven and are almost certainly false — because CNN told them those things were true, repeatedly, with great confidence, without the editorial caution they now claim to be exercising on Trump’s behalf.
Stelter’s own framing gives away the game. He claimed Trump’s “election lies led to violence” — a characterization that is both misleading and irrelevant to the question of whether the President of the United States has the right to address the nation. They didn’t fact-check Biden in real time. They didn’t pre-screen his addresses. They aired him live when he told whoppers without blinking.
Trump goes on television with authenticated classified intelligence — and gets blacked out.
The American people noticed. Network executives should be more worried about that than about what Trump was going to say.
