They’re not hiding it anymore. The Democratic Socialists of America have put their agenda in writing, and every American who loves this country needs to read it carefully — because what they’re describing isn’t reform. It’s the systematic dismantling of everything the Founders built to keep us free.
The DSA platform calls for abolishing the United States Senate. Full amnesty for every illegal alien in the country. Defunding the military. And — the one that should stop every constitutionalist cold — replacing the presidency and the Supreme Court with institutions subordinate to Congress alone. No separation of powers. No independent executive. No independent judiciary. Just a unicameral legislature with unlimited authority and nothing standing in its way.
Gee…what could go wrong?
This is not a fringe document. This is the official platform of the organization whose candidates just won Democratic primaries in New York and Colorado — whose ideology now drives the progressive caucus that holds the balance of power in the House — whose worldview is shared by the mayor of New York City and an increasing number of Democratic members of Congress.
The DSA’s faith rests on a near-religious belief in the incorruptible virtue of direct democracy — the idea that if you simply subordinate everything to the unfiltered will of the majority, virtuous outcomes are guaranteed. It sounds appealing until you understand why the Founders explicitly rejected it.
James Madison understood something that democratic socialists refuse to accept: tyranny doesn’t require a king. It can be imposed just as brutally by a simple majority that controls everything and faces no institutional check. That’s exactly why the Founders built what they built — successive layers of insulation between raw democratic will and the exercise of governmental power. The House closest to the people. The Senate one step removed. The presidency further still. The Supreme Court furthest of all.
Notice precisely what the DSA wants to eliminate. Not the House — the institution closest to direct democratic control. Not the parts of government most responsive to majority will. They want to destroy the Senate, subordinate the presidency, and neuter the Supreme Court — the exact institutions designed to stand between a temporary majority and the permanent rights of the minority.
This isn’t a coincidence. It’s the entire point.
Every form of socialism arrives at the same destination: concentrated power with nothing to check it. The DSA is simply more honest about the path than most. They know the Constitution stands between them and everything they want. So they’ve published a platform calling for its effective abolition — dressed up in the language of democracy, equality, and the will of the people.
The Founders warned us about exactly this. They called it the tyranny of the majority. They designed an entire system of government to prevent it.
The DSA just told you they want to tear that system down. Believe them.
