Newsom, Calif. Dems Humiliated Themselves Again With Latest ‘Gerrymander’ Backfire

Gavin Newsom and his merry band of nutso Democrats who rule the failing state of California thought they were so smart. After Texas and Missouri became the first states to redistrict and add more red representation, Newsom got the bright idea to add more Dems to his congressional delegation. Voters approved that ballot issue earlier this year.

Well, now there’s been a bit of a backfire in their plans, and it’s glorious. Seems like they’re not going to get all the Democrat seats they hoped for after all.

Democrats are no longer in California’s 40th Congressional District. Rep. Young Kim advanced from the primary alongside Rep. Ken Calvert, resulting in a Republican-versus-Republican match-up in November.

The new 40th Congressional District was supposed to be one of the five Democrat pick-ups. Not anymore.

The strategy was to force two Republican incumbents to run against each other in the same district, weakening them so that a Democrat could step in and win the seat.

Calvert secured first place with approximately 36 percent of the vote, while Kim finished second with around 21 percent. Democrat Esther Kim-Varet came in third with roughly 16 percent. In California’s top-two primary system, finishing in third place is effectively the same as finishing last, meaning she is out of the race.

Before Proposition 50, Calvert held the 41st, and Kim held the 40th. Newsom’s grand scheme was supposed to result in handing his terrorist party another seat. But it wound up costing them one instead. Brilliant.
