A diverse group of Democrats gathered in Montgomery, Alabama, on Saturday for the “All Roads Lead to the South” rally to express their opposition to the recently redrawn congressional map in Alabama.
Among the speakers was Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14), who slammed the Republicans’ successful redistricting efforts:

It is time for the North to pull up to the South…and let them know exactly what they have uncorked with this injustice. They think they can draw us out of power. They do not know the sleeping giant that they just awakened. What they thought was the final blow is actually just the opening silo.
First things first: A genius, she isn’t. She appears to have messed up the term “opening salvo” with “opening silo.”
If you don’t understand your initial strategy, you may not fully grasp the challenge. She has national ambitions, as evidenced by her visit, but consistently demonstrates she is not prepared for the task.
Secondly, AOC is a monumental hypocrite on this issue, as are all members of the Domestic Terrorist Party. Democrats have been gerrymandering for decades. She talks about the North, which is gerrymandered to the max. You’ll find a leprechaun and his pot o’ gold at the end of a rainbow before you find GOP representation. So they have nothing to say about this.
The “sleeping giant” that may have been awakened refers to the Republicans finally deciding to actively engage in the redistricting battle. Democrats are upset not due to issues of race, but because they are losing political power. Republicans are effectively competing against them, for a change, winning key advantages in redistricting, which could secure important seats for the GOP heading into the midterm elections. Heck, Republicans could govern for a generation, maybe more.
The larger point is this: Every time this woman gets on a big stage and opens her mouth, she sounds like a moron. Granted, her fans don’t care one iota about her gaffes and inability to articulate basic U.S. policy, which in and of itself is dangerous.
But she ain’t ready yet for the big time, and frankly, I don’t think she ever will be. For a politician, I hear she makes a pretty good bartender.
