Trump gets amazing news after appearing in Manhattan courtroom, and Joe Biden should be plenty worried

Text size

Though former President Donald Trump was formally charged with 34 felonies in a Manhattan courtroom on Tuesday, the news for him got much better, actually, as time wore on.

The Washington Examiner reported on Wednesday that, according to a newly released Rasmussen Reports poll, Trump has taken his widest lead yet over likely 2024 rival President Joe Biden.

And it’s not even close.

“Trump moved ahead of Biden 47%-40% with support from women and independents,” the outlet reported, citing the results.

Here’s more:

Trump was trailing Biden 42%-45% in February, the last time the national polling firm conducted a 2024 head-to-head survey. Trump announced his candidacy in November.

Wednesday’s survey is the first 2024 general election testing since the Manhattan hush money indictment against the 45th president was released last week. It was conducted before Tuesday’s hearing, during which Trump pleaded not guilty to 34 counts.

Rasmussen released a tweet on Wednesday teasing the results of its survey, showing its February numbers and stating, “Reversal of Fortune — Massive Strategic Backfire.” The survey was weighted with 36% Democrats, 33% Republicans, and 31% independents.

In addition, Biden is trailing behind Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis, who has a more significant lead at 46% compared to Biden’s 38%. Both DeSantis and Trump seem to be performing well among women and independent voters, which are considered critical to winning in 2024.

Trump leads Biden among women with a 47% to 39% margin. DeSantis, on the other hand, leads among women with a 43% to 39% margin. Among independent voters, Trump leads Biden with 44% to 36%, while DeSantis leads with 44% to 32%.

“Also significantly, Trump and DeSantis would have the support of 26% of black voters if the election were held today, said Rasmussen,” the Examiner added.
