Green Bay Packers legend and NFL Hall of Fame member Brett Favre encouraged Packers fans to vote for former President Donald Trump during a rally in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on Wednesday. Trump, wearing a neon safety vest in response to President Biden labeling his supporters as “human garbage” the day before, took questions from reporters in a MAGA-themed garbage truck about an hour before the rally. He chose to keep the vest on for his speech in the battleground state. “And I have to begin by saying, 250 million Americans are not garbage,” Trump said, drawing cheers from the crowd.

After Trump delivered his opening remarks, the arena erupted when he invited Packers legend Brett Favre to address the Green Bay crowd from behind the podium. “There’s nothing like Packer fans. And you know, this is bigger than the Packers right now, but this is a special place. So thank you for the unbelievable welcome that you gave me. And it’s, I love you,” the NFL great, who played most of his career in Green Bay but also took snaps as a New York Jet and Minnesota Viking, told the adoring crowd.

He then pointed out that his entire family, including his young grandchildren, were present, emphasizing their attendance because younger generations will be “most affected” by a Kamala Harris presidency. Favre also addressed President Biden’s “garbage” remark, which the White House has been eager to distance itself from. Biden claimed that he specifically referred to comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, but it was clear he was referencing all Trump supporters during his interview with CNN. The White House has even gone so far as to edit the transcripts of Biden’s interview to include an apostrophe after “supporters.”

“I want to address the comment that Joe Biden made yesterday, last night, that supporters of Donald Trump, us, are garbage,” Favre said, drawing loud boos from the crowd. “I can assure you we’re not garbage. How dare he say that. Looking out, I see police officers, teachers, nurses, grandparents, students, I see everyday Americans that make this country great,” he continued. “And as I said earlier, I have not done an event like this before, but I decided it’s time. Why? Why do I even have to explain why? Because the stakes are incredibly high.”
