Michigan Sen. Elissa Slotkin got caught on undercover video this week openly discussing Democrats’ plans to launch prosecutions and congressional investigations targeting the Trump administration if they win control of the House or Senate in next week’s midterms. She told a complete stranger. Just laid it all out.

The video, obtained exclusively by Townhall, shows Slotkin campaigning Thursday for congressional candidate Sean McCann when someone walked up and started the conversation. The person told Slotkin, “I’m worried that we’re going to be too nice,” and then asked, “What are we going to do to hold the Trump regime and its collaborators responsible? I’m talking prosecutions.” Slotkin’s response? “I’m with you.”

She then went full supervillain monologue. “Assuming we win both houses, even if we just win one, we’ll come up, we have a list of, like, the ‘signature cases,'” Slotkin said. “So the things where it’s, like, so egregious, such a violation of law, such a corruption case, like, and we will have, in every committee, there will be the ‘signature cases’ that we, where we hold people accountable.” Every committee. She’s got committees involved. Very normal moderate consensus-builder stuff.

She also mentioned she recently flew to Hungary, specifically to Budapest, to get tips on Slotkin lawfare strategy video from people who just ousted what she called an “authoritarian leader” after 16 years. “How did you handle 16 years of corruption? We don’t have that much, but we have so much,” she said. Nothing says “I represent Michigan” like hopping a flight to Eastern Europe to workshop your political revenge strategy.

Slotkin named specific targets, including a ballroom project in the East Wing of the White House, a reflecting pool renovation on the Mall, and what she described as “$200 million in, you know, from the Defense Department.” She then predicted, or warned depending on your perspective, “So that’s what you’ll see basically in January.

The really rich part is that Slotkin won her Senate seat by running as a moderate. She put Presidents Trump and George W. Bush, for whom she actually worked, in her own campaign ads to prove she could work across the aisle. That was then. Now she’s flying to Budapest to take notes on how to prosecute political opponents and telling random voters she has a committee-by-committee accountability list ready to go.

She’s also clearly angling for a presidential run. At a recent University of Chicago event, Vox’s Astead Herndon asked her whether a Kamala Harris presidential bid was compatible with Democrats needing new faces and new ideas. Slotkin said flatly, “No.” She added that “the sentiment I’m describing is so strong of wanting new faces and big and bold ideas” that even the more traditional candidates “just won’t work.” So she’s already taking shots at Harris on her way up the ladder.

Republicans need to hold both chambers on Election Day to keep this lawfare wish list right where it belongs, in a Michigan senator’s notebook next to her Budapest travel receipts.
