Hillary Clinton, twice-failed presidential candidate and full-time grudge-holder, sat down for a podcast with Kara Swisher and decided now was a great time to revisit the moment her handlers loaded her into a van like a side of beef. Clinton addressed her infamous fainting episode on September 11, 2016, when she buckled and dropped at Ground Zero in New York City. She even lost a shoe on the way in.
Clinton’s team originally blamed the weather that morning, which was a very comfortable 75 degrees. When that didn’t fly, the campaign released a statement from her doctor saying she had been diagnosed with pneumonia and became “overheated and dehydrated” at the event. Her doctor added that she was “re-hydrated and recovering nicely,” which is definitely the kind of thing you want your doctor saying about a presidential candidate on national TV.
On the podcast, Clinton compared her situation to Texas Democrat Senate candidate James Talarico’s 13-day absence from the campaign trail, framing herself as the trooper who kept going despite doctor’s orders. Swisher helpfully chimed in that Trump was “quantumly sicker” than Clinton in 2016, which is a sentence that probably sounded smart in her head. Clinton then used the moment to take a swing at Trump, saying he has “never given us an honest medical report ever. Ever,” all while complaining that social media made her look bad for Hillary Clinton fainting at Ground Zero.
The Trump White House did not let that slide. White House spokesman Davis Ingle told Fox News exactly what he thought of Clinton’s health commentary. President Trump’s sharpness, unmatched energy, and historic accessibility stand in stark contrast to what we saw during the last administration, when Democrats and the legacy media intentionally covered up Joe Biden’s serious mental and physical decline from the American people,” Ingle said.
Ingle didn’t stop there. “President Trump is working nonstop to solve problems and deliver on his promises, and he remains in excellent health. Meanwhile, Crooked Hillary Clinton is still whining about her spectacular 2016 election defeat. It’s time for Hillary to move on,” he said. That’s going to leave a mark, though probably not as big a mark as losing to Trump twice in your head every single day for almost a decade.
Clinton will almost certainly not move on, because moving on would require admitting the 2016 loss was final. Expect more podcast appearances, more health debates, and more shoe-related memories from the woman who still can’t let it go like Elsa from the ‘Frozen’ movie.
