Trump Rally Heckler F’ed Around, Found Out After Interrupting The Don

Text size

If you’re going to go to a rally featuring President Donald Trump just to heckle and interrupt him with some childish antics over a pointless issue, you should probably be prepared to be roughed up a bit. Or maybe more than a little bit.

A confrontation between a protester and supporters of Trump disrupted a campaign rally in Youngstown, Ohio, on Monday, prompting police intervention and a series of remarks from the president. The incident occurred at the Covelli Centre as Trump campaigned for Republican Sen. Jon Husted, who faces former Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown in November’s midterm elections.

Trump was criticizing Brown when a disturbance broke out among spectators, drawing attention away from the president’s speech. Video footage showed a very large woman wearing a black shirt bearing the message “Release the Epstein Files” confronting several attendees before a man pushed her and struck her in the face.

The man also appeared to grab the woman’s hair and attempt to force her head toward the ground. Other attendees watched the confrontation, with some chanting “USA” as tensions escalated. Police eventually intervened and escorted the protester from the arena:

Video showed the man who struck her remaining inside the venue, where he exchanged high-fives with other spectators, because why not. This is the way the left treats us, so turnabout is fair play, right?

Trump addressed the disturbance from the stage, accusing the demonstrator of being paid to interrupt his appearance.

“He’s a paid protester,” Trump told the crowd, apparently referring to the woman as a man. “They’re all paid. They get paid by the lefties in order to destroy our country. They’re scum,” he added.

The president did not provide evidence supporting his claim that the protester had received payment. As officers removed the woman, Trump praised law enforcement before making additional remarks about the demonstrator.

“Don’t we love law enforcement?” he asked. Trump then commented on the protester’s weight. “Oh, he’s gotta go on a diet! He’s a fat guy. Wow. Wow. Gotta go on a diet fast. We all do,” the president said. He also described the individual as a “very low-class protester” before returning to his prepared remarks.

The First Amendment being what it is, sometimes free speech isn’t…well…free. But obviously that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have the right to go disrupt a Trump rally and get your rear end handed to you.
