Ilhan Omar Responds to Early Morning Raid By Feds Just Like You Thought She Would

Text size

Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar is accusing President Donald Trump of using federal law enforcement to target political opponents after Homeland Security investigators raided her Washington, D.C., home early Monday morning.

The Minnesota congresswoman responded defiantly to the search, declaring that she had done nothing wrong and would not be intimidated by the administration.

“I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement,” Omar wrote on social media. “For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation,” she continued. “I will not be silenced.”

Her response came hours after federal agents executed a search warrant at her residence as part of an ongoing criminal investigation reportedly involving her immigration history.

Agents from Homeland Security Investigations, the investigative division of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, arrived at Omar’s Washington residence before sunrise Monday. According to Fox News Digital, the operation began around 6 a.m., with multiple agents wearing jackets identifying them as federal investigators.

The Justice Department confirmed that authorities had obtained judicial authorization for the search. “Today in the Washington, D.C., area, Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant secured by the Department of Justice,” a department spokesperson said. “This enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal investigation.”

Authorities did not disclose what evidence investigators were seeking. The Associated Press reported that agents were seen removing boxes from the residence marked as seized evidence. No criminal charges against Omar have been announced.
