Trump Drops A Piano On Nobel Winner, Calling Her A ‘Hater of America’

President Donald Trump came out swinging Friday after the Norwegian Nobel Committee handed the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize to South African jurist Navi Pillay, reposting a statement on Truth Social that called her an “unabashed hater of America and Israel” and accused her work on Gaza of having “rewarded Hamas.”

Talk about getting a piano dropped on ya! This is Trump going all out and letting everyone know how he really feels about Pillay, and he’s not holding back!

The reposted statement didn’t hold back. It said the Nobel Committee had “shamed itself beyond repair” and “demeaned the once great Nobel Peace Prize” by picking Pillay. The post also took a shot at the committee’s judgment by bringing up its earlier decision to award the Peace Prize to Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, which, fair point, was not exactly a universally beloved call.

The post contrasted all of that with Trump’s own record, citing the Abraham Accords, the return of hostages, efforts to stop Iran, attempts to end the Russia-Ukraine war, and plans to rebuild Gaza. Those were the claims made in the repost. The statement laid out what Trump has worked toward, not a certified list of completed objectives, just to be clear.

So who is Navi Pillay? She’s 85, a former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, and has served as a judge at some of the world’s top international courts, including the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda and the International Criminal Court. She also chaired the UN commission that concluded in 2025 that Israel had committed genocide in Gaza, a finding Israel strongly rejects. It’s worth keeping in mind that the Nobel Committee’s award focused on her career advancing international law broadly, and the prize itself does not settle the legal genocide question one way or another. You can find the Nobel Prize announcement and Trump’s reaction covered in full if you want the committee’s exact wording.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also weighed in, reportedly slamming Pillay as a “bigot” and “corrupt prosecutor” over the Gaza genocide finding. So the Nobel Committee has managed to earn unified criticism from both Washington and Jerusalem. Quite the achievement for a Peace Prize.

In a bit of irony that basically writes its own punchline, Pillay joked after the announcement that she might share the prize with Trump if the applause from colleagues in Nuremberg, Germany kept up. She dedicated the award to the “survivors of international crimes.” Trump, for his part, does not appear to be holding his breath for a slice of that prize money.

The Nobel Committee will go on defending its decision, Trump will go on posting, and Pillay will go on collecting her award – even if no one likes her. Drop your thoughts in the comments or share this on social media, because something tells us people have opinions on this one.
