Mike Tyson apparently moonlights as a mailman. The 60-year-old former heavyweight champion revealed during an appearance on Radio Andy’s Andy Cohen Live that he personally delivered a letter from Sean “Diddy” Combs to President Donald Trump.
Combs is currently sitting in federal prison serving a 50-month sentence, so his options for getting a message to the president are a little limited. That’s where Iron Mike stepped in. “He wanted me to give a letter to the president,” Tyson told host Andy Cohen during the October 8 conversation. As for what was in the letter, Tyson kept that close to the vest.
He did confirm he followed through, saying he “did what he told me to do” when it came to passing the message along. No word on whether there was a return address on the envelope, given Diddy’s current accommodations.
Tyson was on the show to promote his upcoming four-part Netflix documentary, TYSON, which covers the highs and lows of his life, including past drug use, the loss of his mother and daughter, and more. He told Cohen, “That’s why we have the documentary. Use your own perspective of what you think about me.” Fair enough from a guy who has given the world plenty of material to work with over the decades.
Tyson also reflected on his own time behind bars. He was convicted of rape in 1992 and served three years at the Indiana Youth Center, which he described, in classic Tyson fashion, as “the best three years of my life.” He said everyone around him, including guards and police, was sympathetic. Every day, they made sure I worked out 3 times a day,” he said. “It was my job to work out.” Only Mike Tyson could turn a prison sentence into a sponsored gym membership.
You can catch the full interview, including Tyson’s candid storytelling, through Mike Tyson’s Radio Andy interview, where he previewed the Netflix documentary and apparently dropped the Diddy bombshell without much fanfare.
The four-part documentary TYSON is set to give viewers a deep look at one of boxing’s most complicated legends. Whether audiences come away sympathetic or skeptical, Tyson seems perfectly fine with either outcome.
At this point the only question left is whether Trump wrote back. Drop your take in the comments below or share this on social media.
