Joe Biden would’ve been on the floor being tended to by his ‘doctor’ wife. Meanwhile, Trump’s admin is built different.

Second Lady Usha Vance had a close call Monday when she slipped on the stairs of Marine Two at Joint Base Andrews while carrying her 9-month-old son, Alec. She caught herself quickly and was not hurt, then it was nothing but smiles and laughs as she joked with the soldiers. Her husband was right behind her, carrying one of their other four children.

The family was departing for Fairbanks, Alaska, where Vice President JD Vance planned to campaign for incumbent Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan. Before boarding, Vance spoke briefly to reporters on the tarmac.

“Looking forward to campaigning for Dan Sullivan. A really great guy and Marine Corps veteran. I’m excited to see him,” Vance told reporters. He also explained why Usha and some of the children were making the long trip.

“This is Usha’s 50th state, which is why we are bringing a nine week old baby on a seven and a half hour flight to Alaska,” Vance said. He added with a laugh, “So, if I give a speech tonight and I look haggard and stressed out, that’s exactly why.”

Video of the moment, captured at the base, shows Usha Vance appearing to lose her footing as she descended the aircraft stairs. She steadied herself before reaching the tarmac, and the family continued on to the gate. Usha Vance slipping on Marine Two stairs circulated quickly after the footage was shared online.

The Sullivan race has drawn national attention heading into the fall campaign stretch. Democrats have been working to unseat the incumbent, backing challenger Mary Peltola. There have also been reports that an additional candidate named Dan Sullivan was added to the general election ballot, which Republicans say was a deliberate attempt to confuse voters.

JD Vance was expected to speak at a campaign event in Fairbanks Monday evening in support of Sullivan. No word yet on whether the family returned to Washington the same night or planned to stay in Alaska longer.
