Now as early voting begins in some states, Republicans are stepping up their messaging to voters, explaining what the party’s done to address key issues while providing a stark contrast to the do-nothing Democrats.

Sen. Rick Scott is launching a new economic messaging campaign aimed at helping Republicans sharpen their pitch to voters as the November midterm elections approach. The Florida Republican is set to roll out the “Rescuing America” project Tuesday, presenting it as an effort to explain how the U.S. economy has changed, why many Americans are struggling to achieve financial security and what Republicans believe should be done about it.

Scott previewed the project in a video shared with Politico ahead of its public release. He said the initiative was developed with a straightforward goal: showing Americans why the traditional American dream has become increasingly difficult for many families to achieve while laying out ideas for reversing that trend.

The campaign comes at a critical moment for Republicans, who are trying to maintain control of Congress in November and keep voters focused on pocketbook issues. The economy has traditionally ranked among the most important issues in national elections, but Republicans have faced a more complicated political environment in recent months as Americans contend with higher energy costs connected to the war with Iran.

Those pressures could make the GOP’s economic message particularly important during the final weeks of the campaign. Scott’s effort appears designed to give Republicans a broader framework for talking about affordability, economic opportunity and the financial pressures facing working families rather than simply relying on individual policy proposals.

With control of the House and Senate at stake, Republicans will need to convince voters that they have a plan not only for addressing current economic concerns but also for improving long-term opportunities for American families. Scott’s “Rescuing America” project is intended to help make that case as the midterm campaign enters its closing stretch.
