If you really want to know who the Democrats are and what they think and believe, all you have to do is observe them and they’ll tell you: They always accuse Republicans of being and doing what they are being and doing. Case in point – after the Graham Platner fiasco, another high-profile Democrat Senate candidate has his own “Nazi problem.”
The Washington Free Beacon found more than a dozen donors who gave money to both Abdul El-Sayed — Michigan’s Democratic Senate nominee — and Dan Bilzerian, the neo-Nazi congressional candidate who made a campaign video asking voters to “revisit” Adolf Hitler’s opinions and calling his Jewish opponent a “fat Jew.” The donors spread thousands of dollars between both candidates. One of the most significant overlapping donors gave over $19,500 total to the two campaigns combined.
The largest shared donor, Ibrahim Awad, is a Georgia personal injury attorney who wrote online that “Zionism is Nazism” and gave $12,651 to the Bilzerian Victory Fund — potentially above the legal limit — and contributed to El-Sayed. Hussein “Sam” Mahrouq gave over $150,000 combined to both candidates and other anti-Israel politicians nationwide. Osama Albibi split donations between the two campaigns as well.
What the Free Beacon identified is what the overlap actually reveals: both Bilzerian and El-Sayed share exactly one policy position — virulent opposition to Israel and AIPAC — and that single shared position is sufficient to attract the same donor pool. The extremes of the political spectrum, on this question, converge.
Bilzerian’s campaign video was not subtle. It featured Hitler footage, called his opponent a “Jewish supremacist,” showed horns growing from the Jewish candidate’s head, and asked whether voters should “revisit that Austrian painter’s opinions.” These donors saw that video. They funded that campaign anyway. And then they also funded El-Sayed.
El-Sayed has called Israel’s campaign in Gaza a genocide, compared the Israeli government to Hamas, dodged questions about whether Israel has a right to exist, and campaigned alongside Hasan Piker — who celebrated Hamas after October 7 and said America deserved September 11th. He has also received significant donations from individuals with documented ties to terror-linked organizations, as previously reported.
The common denominator isn’t policy sophistication. It’s Jew-hatred, and, by definition, hatred of the West in general. When someone gives thousands of dollars to a candidate who produced a Hitler-praising campaign video and thousands more to a candidate who says Israel shouldn’t exist, the ideology isn’t complicated. It’s one ideology wearing two different political masks.
Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) has been saying for months that El-Sayed is toxic — that the DSA-backed socialist is going to cost Democrats a Senate seat they desperately need. Former Biden spox Julian Epstein is voting for Republican Mike Rogers. Jewish donors who backed Haley Stevens are crossing over. And now the Washington Free Beacon has documented that the money funding El-Sayed comes from the same pool that funded neo-Nazi campaign videos.
Michigan gets to decide whether this matters. The voters of the state that produced Fetterman’s warning, the Jewish donors’ defection, and a former Biden official voting Republican will render their verdict in November. They should know who’s funding the other side.
