Alexander Vindman — the Trump-deranged former U.S. Army intelligence officer who falsely claimed Trump unlawfully solicited Ukrainian authorities to influence the 2020 U.S. presidential election, leading to his first impeachment — just got beaten in a Florida Democratic Senate primary by a DSA member who ran around the Florida House floor shouting into a pink megaphone, brags about taking her young children to drag shows, and declared her victory a mandate for Medicare for All.
Glorious. DSA candidate Angie Nixon spent roughly $1 million. Vindman spent roughly $16 million. The DSA won anyway, 56 to 44 percent. Let’s talk about who Sen. Ashley Moody (R-Fla.) just drew as her November opponent.
Nixon is a 42-year-old Florida state representative from Jacksonville and a card-carrying DSA member who checked every box on the socialist activist résumé: abolish ICE, Medicare for All, rent control, cut aid to Israel.

Her victory speech was one of the more unhinged moments of the entire primary season — telling CNN’s Laura Coates that she plans to “whoop” Moody and “you WILL be calling me your Senator.” Laura Coates’ visible reaction to this declaration told you everything about how it played even with a sympathetic anchor.

The NRSC went straight for the clip that will define Nixon’s campaign regardless of anything else she says between now and November. “There’s no sexualization at a drag show… I’ve taken my children to drag shows… it’s wholesome entertainment.”

That video is going to run in Florida for the next 77 days. Sen. Ashley Moody — the Republican incumbent who beat Nixon’s fellow Democrat to win her seat — posted the pink megaphone footage with one line: “This is Angie Nixon. The Democrat nominee for US Senate in Florida. Not a joke.”
Not a joke. Also not a candidate who has any realistic path to winning a Florida Senate seat in 2026.
Florida has moved dramatically to the right over the past decade. No Democrat has won statewide since 2018. The governor’s mansion hasn’t been held by a Democrat since Lawton Chiles in 1994. Republican registration advantages have been growing, not shrinking. The state that gave Trump his biggest 2024 margin is now being asked by the Democratic Party to send a DSA socialist who calls drag shows wholesome family entertainment to the United States Senate.
The DSA is doing what the DSA does: nominating ideologically pure candidates who win primaries in activist-heavy electorates and then discover that the general election is a fundamentally different universe. Michigan’s El-Sayed is ahead of them on that journey. Florida’s Nixon is about to start it.
Ashley Moody is going to be very, very fine. Angie Nixon with her pink megaphone is going to be a Republican campaign commercial that runs itself. And Chuck Schumer just got humiliated – again.
