Most American media is bad, left-wing, and notoriously close to propaganda, but without question, the leader of the pack, far and away, is MS NOW, formerly MSNBC. There isn’t a single real journalist among the pack of lying bullsteimers who make up the network’s correspondents and hosts. And they proved it again this week.
MS NOW aired a graphic during coverage of President Donald Trump’s Turkey security operation that included Karoline Leavitt among the White House staff left on Air Force One. There was one small problem: Leavitt wasn’t on the trip. She didn’t travel to Turkey. She wasn’t on any plane involved in the incident. MS NOW fabricated her presence entirely.
The network didn’t catch it themselves. Maggie Haberman — the New York Times reporter appearing as a guest on the segment — had to correct host Jacob Soboroff on live television when he referenced Leavitt being left behind on the plane. This is the same Maggie Haberman who is not exactly a member of the Trump fan club. If you’ve lost Haberman as your fact-checker, you’ve lost badly.
NewsBusters’ Curtis Houck documented both the error and what came next: MS NOW’s PR account on X did not issue an apology, acknowledgment, or correction of any kind. The graphic was wrong. The anchor was wrong. The premise of the entire segment involving Leavitt was wrong. The network said nothing.
Leavitt’s response was two words that summarize the entire episode: “More Fake News from MS Now and the libs online.”
The fake Turkey story is just one entry in a long list of fabricated Leavitt narratives that circulated this week. The media also promoted the theory that Leavitt was fired rather than resigning voluntarily to spend time with her family after having her second child. This too was false, confirmed by Trump himself and by everyone with actual knowledge of the situation. The press corps that complains about being misled by the administration manufactured two separate false stories about the departing press secretary in the span of one news cycle.
The broader Turkey incident deserves the same honest treatment. Trump’s Secret Service detail moved him to a different aircraft amid credible Iranian assassination threats. They used a catering truck. The operation worked. The media was not informed in advance — because informing the media in advance of classified security maneuvers during an active assassination threat is not how security operations work. The same press corps that ran classified munitions details on CBS News last week is now outraged that classified security details weren’t provided to them during a threat against the president’s life.
The two things the media got genuinely wrong about the Turkey incident: putting Karoline Leavitt on a trip she didn’t take, and assuming they had a right to advance notice of presidential security maneuvers designed to defeat an assassination attempt.
Leavitt leaves office having been falsely accused of being fired, falsely placed on a foreign trip she didn’t take, and having spent her tenure dealing with exactly this kind of fabrication with precision and equanimity. She called it fake news. She was right. Again.
