Carlos Felipe Jaramillo Grajales is a 55-year-old Colombian national who entered the United States illegally at some point before March 2003. DHS doesn’t know when. DHS doesn’t know where. What it does know is that he stole an American citizen’s name, birthdate, and Social Security number, used them to obtain a Florida driver’s license and a U.S. passport, got on the voter rolls in December 2010, and proceeded to vote in multiple American elections — including the 2020 general election in Duval County.
He was sentenced to three years in federal prison Wednesday. He’ll be deported to Colombia when he finishes. Democrats say this never happens or is ‘exceedingly rare.’ They’re liars. They’ve always been liars when it comes to vote fraud and illegal aliens.
The false identity lasted more than 20 years. Florida renewed his driver’s license multiple times. The State Department renewed his fraudulently obtained passport in 2013 and again in March 2023. Not one of those renewals caught anything.
What caught him was his own divorce and remarriage. After leaving the U.S. for Colombia in May 2024 and reconnecting with his ex-wife — who had become an American citizen through their original marriage to his fake identity — she filed a K-1 fiancé visa application for him under his real name. Jaramillo Grajales returned to the U.S., married her again in June 2025, and applied for permanent residence. His real name on the K-1 paperwork, checked against his existing fraudulent American identity, exposed the fraud.
The government didn’t catch this. A visa application did.
Let that sink in completely. A man used a stolen American identity for twenty years. He renewed a passport. He renewed a driver’s license. He registered to vote. He voted. He helped his wife become an American citizen through that fake identity. And the entire federal apparatus — the Social Security Administration, the State Department, the Florida DMV, the voter registration system — missed it. For two decades. Until bureaucratic paperwork accidentally created a contradiction that finally triggered scrutiny.
DHS tied Wednesday’s sentencing to the Trump administration’s broader 2026 crackdown on noncitizen voting, listing five other enforcement actions this year: arrests in New Jersey and Louisiana, charges against four noncitizens in New Jersey, a guilty plea in Kansas, and the arrest of a Mauritanian illegal alien accused of voting in seven federal elections since 2008.
This is the system Democrats call secure. The same system where New Jersey registered 6,600 noncitizens by accident. Where a British national voted in five consecutive American elections. Where Virginia left admitted noncitizens on the rolls for 90 days before an election. Where Arizona’s voter data was hacked by someone who confessed to the FBI and faced no prosecution.
The honor system failed here for twenty years. Carlos Felipe Jaramillo Grajales voted in American elections while a real American citizen’s identity sat on his Florida driver’s license. Pass the SAVE America Act when Congress comes back. Before another twenty years pass.
