The communists taking over the Democratic Party aren’t hiding. The media just isn’t looking.
Julian Epstein — former chief legal counsel for House Democrats during the Clinton impeachment, former staff director of the House Oversight Committee, a man who gave decades to the Democratic Party — told Fox News what the legacy media refuses to acknowledge: “We are in a civil war now.”
Not approaching. Not brewing. Now.
The media has been running stories about “tensions” and “intraparty debates” as if this were a policy disagreement between colleagues. What it actually is: a systematic takeover. DSA candidates are winning primaries in New York, Colorado, Michigan, California, and Detroit. They are defeating incumbents backed by Hakeem Jeffries and the full weight of the DCCC apparatus. And Epstein says the legacy media is “basically illiterate” about what’s happening, noting that if you rely on MSNBC or CNN for this story, you are uninformed about a political realignment of historic consequence.
He’s right. The media’s blind eye isn’t accidental. It’s institutional protection for a party that the legacy press has decided must be defended regardless of what that party is becoming.
Epstein also said the media’s heads would be “collectively exploding” if a KKK movement had taken hold in the Republican Party the way “Hamas-aligned supporters” have among Democrats. It’s a fair comparison — with one necessary historical amendment: the KKK was a Democrat creation. So were the Jim Crow laws. The party now embracing candidates who say Israel doesn’t have a right to exist and who campaign alongside men who praise Mao Zedong is adding the latest chapter to a long history of American leftist extremism.
The civil war’s battlefield is straightforward. The moderate wing — Epstein, Sen. John Fetterman, James Carville, former Sen. Joe Manchin, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro — sees the danger clearly and is saying so publicly. None of them has found a mechanism to stop it. The DSA wing doesn’t need a mechanism to stop them. It just needs primaries — and it keeps winning them.
What’s more, even Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) has been bending his neck to the far-left as he stares at a primary challenge from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) herself in 2028. When the Senate Minority Leader is accommodating the people taking over his party rather than fighting them, the battle is already largely decided. Schumer made his calculation: appease or face extinction. He’s appeasing. The DSA is taking note.
Meanwhile, the legacy media that spent years covering every Republican “civil war” story — from the Tea Party to the Freedom Caucus to Trump’s takeover — is treating the DSA’s systematic conquest of the Democratic Party as a story about “tensions.” Not a hostile takeover. Not a civil war. Tensions.
Epstein is calling it what it is. The media can keep holding their telescopes to their blind eyes.
