Looks Like Mamdani’s New Wealth Tax Is Hitting Wealthy Democrats Who Voted For Him

The New York Post beat everyone to the perfect headline: “Pied-à-Terror.” They were right. And it keeps getting worse.

Mamdani sold his pied-à-terre tax as a surcharge on wealthy second homes valued at over $5 million. Then New Yorkers discovered it also applies to co-ops and condos valued at just $1 million. Then they discovered the searchable database of 960,000 names and addresses he published online — which a Democratic strategist correctly identified as a potential target list. And now, with the August 21 deadline looming for property owners to prove their home is their primary residence, New Yorkers are discovering the exemption process itself is a bureaucratic nightmare that appears designed to maximize failure.

In other words, Mamdani lied – again – and his tax will be hitting some of the very wealthy idiot Dems who voted for him. You can’t make up this kind of karma.

Karen Young has lived in her Upper West Side brownstone for 30 years. She spent three hours beginning the exemption process. The documents she uploaded weren’t saved. She has to start over. She needs her ownership title from her estate lawyer — whom she’ll have to pay — to continue. If she doesn’t complete the process by August 21, she owes $42,824. This year. As an annual surcharge. On the home she has lived in for three decades.

And she’s just one example. There are tens of thousands more.

The 30-day window is its own tell. The notices went out during the quietest month of the year in New York City — when half the people receiving them are away on vacation, when their accountants and estate lawyers are harder to reach, when uploading documents and navigating a broken government portal is the last thing anyone is thinking about. This wasn’t an oversight. This was a deadline engineered to maximize confusion and maximize collections.

? JUST IN: Ugandan Mayor Mamdani is facing outrage for PUBLICLY POSTING a SEARCHABLE database of "wealthy" property owners in NYC

"The city just posted a searchable list of every homeowner on the hook for his new tax. Names, addresses, 30,000 of them." ?

Here is the architecture of what Mamdani is actually building, stated plainly. His housing advisor has publicly stated that private property should be abolished. His rent freeze was rigged by a board he stacked with his own appointees, with one member resigning in protest before the vote. He published the names and addresses of nearly a million homeowners he has spent months vilifying as class enemies. And now he has created a tax with an impossible exemption process and a 30-day deadline specifically designed to sweep up people who have every right to be exempt.

It’s not supposed to make sense . It’s supposed to blow you out of your property. https://t.co/BInthjWIEx

Democratic Socialists don’t seize property with armed guards. They create convoluted laws, impossible paperwork, and exorbitant fines. Then they use the fines as grounds for confiscation — legally, bureaucratically, with plausible deniability at every step.

This is what that looks like in practice.

New York City voted for this. The rest of America should take notes.
