Trump Just Shut Down Mamdani’s Netanyahu Arrest Fantasy In One Sentence

The socialist mayor of New York City wanted to arrest the Prime Minister of Israel. The President of the United States told him no. End of discussion.

Trump’s Truth Social post Monday was brief, unambiguous, and exactly what the moment required: “Benjamin Netanyahu will not be arrested, in any way, shape, or form, while in the United States of America.” No hedging. No diplomatic softening. No lengthy legal analysis of whether Mamdani even has the authority to do what he’s been threatening. Just a flat, iron refusal — directed at a mayor who needed to hear it clearly and now has.

Netanyahu is visiting the United States this week for the funeral of Senator Lindsey Graham, one of Israel’s most committed advocates in American politics. He was tentatively scheduled to meet with Trump Monday. The idea that the mayor of New York City was entertaining — even briefly, even theoretically — deploying the NYPD against a visiting allied head of state arriving to pay his respects at a senator’s funeral is so breathtaking in its arrogance that it required exactly the response Trump gave it.

The legal case for Mamdani’s position is nonexistent, and that deserves to be stated plainly. The ICC’s arrest warrant for Netanyahu was issued by Karim Khan — a prosecutor now under investigation for sexual misconduct who went on administrative leave under a cloud of scandal. The United States is not a signatory to the Rome Statute. Israel is not a signatory to the Rome Statute. The ICC has no jurisdiction over either country and no mechanism to enforce its warrants on American soil even if it did. Foreign heads of state visiting the United States for official purposes enjoy diplomatic protections that no city mayor has the authority to override.

Mamdani knows all of this. His legal team has been having the “active conversations” he bragged about specifically because they know the answer — and the answer is no. What Mamdani is doing is not governance. It is theater, performed for a specific audience, designed to signal solidarity with a political movement that views Israel’s existence as the problem rather than Hamas’s terrorism.

Trump also said what needed to be said about why Netanyahu is here and what he’s been doing: fighting against the Islamic Republic of Iran, which killed 52,000 of its own citizens and has spent 47 years killing American soldiers. The same Iran whose UN ambassador Mamdani’s own officials tried to meet with secretly in July before the State Department intervened. The same Iran whose ideology Mamdani’s political worldview has far more sympathy for than the worldview of America’s democratic allies.

Fetterman called Mamdani a clown last week. Netanyahu noted that Mamdani condemns Israel while championing Hamas. Trump shut the whole thing down with nine words on Truth Social.

Netanyahu will attend Lindsey Graham’s funeral. He will meet with the President. He will not be arrested.

Mamdani’s answer is no. The President of the United States just delivered it personally.
