United States Southern Command once again demonstrated a timeless military reality: some threats are best dealt with decisively, not negotiated with endlessly.
This time, the target was an alleged narco-submersible operating in the eastern Pacific — another vessel suspected of helping funnel deadly narcotics toward American communities.
After encountering U.S. forces, the boat reportedly met a swift and final end, leaving little behind but debris scattered across the bottom of the ocean.

On May 29, at the direction of #SOUTHCOM commander Gen. Francis L. Donovan, Joint Task Force Southern Spear conducted a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel operated by Designated Terrorist Organizations. Intelligence confirmed the vessel was transiting along known narco-trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific and was engaged in narco-trafficking operations. Three male narco-terrorists were killed during this action. No U.S. military forces were harmed. SOUTHCOM is unwavering in its commitment to applying total systemic friction on the cartels.
Mind you, only Democrats and Sen. Rand Paul object to the Trump administration dealing with narco-terrorists in this manner.
But in fact, these strikes a) are legal and constitutional; and b) very popular with most Americans. Trump is literally combating the importation of deadly drugs into our country. We don’t have to spend billions on rehab programs if we prevent Americans from becoming addicted in the first place.
As for today’s unfortunate smugglers, they are merely the latest in a growing list of ex-terrorists:
While the military’s social media announcements always include video of the attacks, this appears to be the first with the footage in color instead of black and white. The video shows a small vessel floating in the ocean before it’s hit and engulfed in a fireball. It cuts to what could be the boat in flames, surrounded by a large plume of parcels or some other objects spread around it in the water.
The attack puts the death toll at 202 people from the series of U.S. strikes that began in early September, with two other attacks announced Tuesday and Wednesday. The Trump administration has declared that the U.S. is in an armed conflict with Latin American drug cartels, saying they are behind the flow of drugs into American communities.
U.S. Southern Command said in its post on X that the strike came at the direction of Gen. Francis L. Donovan, the top U.S. commander in Latin America, who on Friday also met with Cuban military leaders near the U.S. Navy base in Guantanamo Bay.
You’d think at some point the cartels would get the message and stop trying to smuggle their narco-cargo into the U.S. via boat. But then, they’re cartels; they don’t exactly make money the legal way.
Meantime, here’s hoping Trump will continue to defy Democrats and Rand Paul and continue to blow these terrorists to Kingdom Come. Every strike makes Americans safer.
