This Trump Derangement Syndrome on the side of the GOP is really getting old. Far too many RINOs remain among the ranks of the Republican Party. This is especially in the Senate in the Senate which has the worst case of RINO-itis in years. Who needs a Democrat majority when we have these clowns?
Senate Majority Leader John Thune is withdrawing from discussions on the reconciliation package that would fund most of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which has been shut down due to Democratic Party actions since Presidents’ Day weekend.
Senate Republicans initially hesitated to engage with Democrats, believing they could negotiate a deal, despite knowing that their base would not support such collaboration.
For years, we have tried to secure funding for the DHS through reconciliation, but we have encountered setbacks, particularly because the Senate Parliamentarian has ordered some parts of the proposal to be reworked.
With Trump endorsing Ken Paxton, there has been significant unrest among the Panicans in the chamber. Additionally, Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA) lost his primary last weekend, prompting Thune to decide to call it a day and recess the upper chamber until June.
The fallout from Trump’s revenge tour—an action that was highly needed—may have contributed to this decision. But the real reason appears to be linked to the DOJ’s anti-weaponization fund:
BREAKING: Senate GOP and WH cannot agree on bill to fund ICE, CBP, security amidst sharp divide over Trump’s ballroom and “weaponization fund”.
Senators tell me the bill “still needs work”.

??BREAKING NEWS: THE SENATE will go home until June, leaving the reconciliation bill unfinished.
THUNE just told senators in the room.
All because of the DOJ weaponization fund.
House is expected to follow suit soon.

It’s fair to argue that the amount of money that’s being set aside without congressional approval is an issue.
But how about this? Stay in town and finish the reconcilation bill first. People in government aren’t getting paid.
Trump was 100 percent right. Thune can’t – or won’t – deliver. Apparently he hasn’t been paying attention to what Trump’s been doing to the Old Guard GOP with his endorsements.
