Jim Jordan Brings A Howitzer To House Hearing With Woke Sanctuary City District Attorney

There’s a saying that if your opponent brings a knife to a fight, you should bring a gun. Well, a woke opponent of a leading Republican brought a gun to the fight, but the leading Republican brought a howitzer.

On Thursday, there was significant drama on Capitol Hill as the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement held a hearing to discuss the sanctuary city policies of Fairfax County, a highly progressive suburb of Washington, D.C. The two main witnesses at the hearing were Steve Descano, the commonwealth’s attorney for Fairfax County, a George Soros purchase, and Stacey Kincaid, the left-wing sheriff of Fairfax County.

The hearing was titled “Fairfax County, Virginia: The Dangerous Consequences of Sanctuary Policies,” reflecting Descano’s prosecutorial priorities. His history of deferring to/preferring to shield illegal aliens has led to deadly consequences.

Witness Cheryl Minter shared the tragic story of her daughter, Stephanie Minter, who was murdered in February while waiting for a bus in the Hybla Valley area of Fairfax. The alleged perpetrator is an illegal immigrant from Sierra Leone with a history of violence, having over 30 prior arrests. Cheryl noted that the local prosecutor, Descano, had declined to prosecute this individual on multiple occasions, because chaos and societal breakdown are the point for Soros’ handpicked agents of Marxism.

The hearing unfolded as expected: Republicans questioned why things were going so disastrously wrong in Fairfax County, while Democrats chose to focus on criticizing President Trump and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). During her opening remarks, Democrat Rep. Pramila Jayapal of Washington launched into a speech against ICE, while colleague Rep. Jamie Raskin of Maryland used his time to offer empty condolences to the Minter family:

An early indication that Descano was flummoxed at being called to account for his prosecutorial – or lack thereof – history was his reaction to the statement by his fellow witness, Republican Jason Miyares, the former attorney general of Virginia. Miyares, who was brilliantly seated right next to Descano, took the Fairfax County prosecutor to task for unequally applying the law to illegals as opposed to actual citizens, which caused Descano to break into theatrical head shaking, loud sighs, and dramatic facial expressions.

Sheriff Kincaid seemed angry from the get-go at being called to appear, and was more than happy to let Descano take most of the heat. And there was plenty of heat for him. One particular point the GOP drilled home was Descano’s self-described prosecutorial style, which lived on his campaign website for six years, but was mysteriously memory-holed once Congress started taking a hard look at him earlier this year.

Local ABC reporter Nick Minock happened to have a screen shot of the disappearing text, which read: “If two people commit the same crime, but only one’s punishment includes deportation, that’s a perversion of justice and not a reflection of the values of Fairfax County.

What in the actual fool around is that supposed to mean? Because the other person committing a crime isn’t an illegal alien, then somehow his or her punishment should be worse? Or that because the other person is in the country illegally, their punishment shouldn’t be as harsh?

This led to a heated exchange between Descano and Republican House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan (OH-04). Jordan questioned Descano about why he attempted to delete a specific section of his website. In response, Descano struggled to provide a clear answer and ultimately suggested that only someone who is “obtuse” would interpret his written statement literally. This comment caused audible gasps from his own supporters in the House gallery.

Meanwhile, Miyares did a truly fabulous job of laying out the long history of Descano and his office going easy on illegal aliens. Concluded Miyares, “This is not incompetence. This is not coincidence. This is policy”:

Fairfax County, Virginia has a long history of ignoring ICE detainers and giving illegal aliens preferential treatment.

All at the cost of American lives.

Descano, by the way, is now under investigation by the Department of Justice to determine “whether the Office of the Fairfax Commonwealth’s Attorney discriminated against United States citizens by offering preferential treatment only to illegal alien criminal defendants.”

Let’s hope it goes somewhere. These Soros agents of chaos are destroying the fabric of our society and every one of them has blood on their hands.
