If you’re someone who needs a little caffeine to jump-start your mornings, don’t worry about that cup o’ Joe or latte this morning; the Virginia Supreme Court just injected some right into our conservative veins:
On March 6, 2026, the General Assembly of Virginia submitted to Virginia voters a proposed constitutional amendment that authorizes partisan gerrymandering of congressional districts in the Commonwealth. We hold that the legislative process employed to advance this proposal violated Article XII, Section 1 of the Constitution of Virginia. This constitutional violation incurably taints the resulting referendum vote and nullifies its legal efficacy.
? BREAKING: The Virginia Supreme Court has overturned the Democrat gerrymandering referendum, ruling that the process to put in on the ballot was unconstitutional.

Now, while the current 6-Dems, 5-Republicans map will remain in effect for the midterms, don’t bet your last dollar on whether Democrats in the state will try another gerrymander. Democrats don’t like to be told ‘no,’ and are definitely going to try and find a creative way around the state Constitution’s political gerrymandering ban.
