Trump Has Reporters In Stitches Over Over a Comment About a Bulletproof Vest

Text size

During a press briefing in the Oval Office on Thursday, the media inquired about the shooting that occurred during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday. Reporters asked President Donald Trump if he was feeling “nervous” about the possibility of another assassination attempt, as there have already been multiple efforts in the past.

Trump said, “I don’t think about it… If I did, I wouldn’t be effective.”

That’s a rather astonishing response. However, after Saturday, it seems he has taken a very calm, zen-like approach to the situation. He was surprisingly composed on Saturday, even giving a briefing immediately after the incident. His main concern appeared to be checking on and reassuring everyone else involved.

Next, Trump was asked if there had been any discussions about him wearing a bulletproof vest. He responded with something genuinely hilarious, and it had the normally hostile press corps laughing hysterically:

“I don’t know if I can handle looking 20 pounds heavier.”

Geniunely funny, this president. I can’t remember the last time I saw a Democrat crack a joke that was even remotely funny, and certainly not this kind of self-depravating humor.

Trump is genuinely one of a kind.
