Tom Homan, President-elect Trump’s incoming border czar, delivered a sharp rebuttal to Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) after she questioned his qualifications and expertise in handling border policy during an MSNBC appearance over the weekend. Speaking on Newsmax’s Wake Up America, Homan didn’t hold back, addressing Crockett’s criticism head-on with a decisive and fiery response.
Crockett, during her MSNBC interview, dismissed Homan’s qualifications, saying, “Again, we have someone who doesn’t know what he’s doing… Trump and his minions say things like, ‘You know what, we’re only going to get rid of the bad ones.’” She also questioned the ethics and practicality of stricter immigration enforcement, adding, “You’re going to come to my job where I’m working and I may be paying into taxes or whatever, or my kids are at school… there’s going to be a rude awakening really on all sides.”
Homan, who served as the acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and has over 34 years of experience in border enforcement, responded strongly. He emphasized his extensive career and accused Crockett of being uninformed. “I forgot more about this issue than you’ll ever know,” Homan fired back. “I mean, for God’s sake, it’s been over 34 years. There’s been a rude awakening—the American people are sick of illegal immigration and crime in this country.”
“How many young women have to be raped and murdered and burned alive? How many MS-13 gang members trained in Guatemala have to be in our major cities committing crimes against U.S. citizens? How many angel moms and dads do we have to have in this country that lost their children at the hands of somebody that wasn’t supposed to be there?” Homan added. He also criticized the rhetoric surrounding family detention policies, which he defended as both humane and necessary. “Family detention is the complete opposite of family separation,” he said. “So look, I don’t know who this lady is, but apparently, she’s not real smart.”

Last week, Tom Homan announced plans to reinstate family detention policies as part of a comprehensive strategy to strengthen immigration enforcement. Deportation efforts will center on targeted operations, prioritizing individuals with criminal records over broad, indiscriminate raids. While National Guard troops may provide logistical support, arrests will be handled exclusively by trained law enforcement officers.
