Trump Picks Up Major New Silicon Valley Supporter Who Was Lifelong Democrat

Mark Pincus, a lifelong Democrat and billionaire founder of the web game developer Zynga, announced in a tweet on Sunday night that he is voting for Trump. “I am voting for Trump,” Pincus wrote Sunday, noting that he previously donated over $1 million to each of the last four Democratic presidential tickets, “including Biden/Harris.”

Pincus, who is Jewish, pointed to Trump’s stronger support for Israel, expressing his belief that “America and Israel will be stronger under Trump.” He also suggested that Harris and the Democrats have an anti-First Amendment stance. “There seems to be a war against freedom of speech,” Pincus wrote. “Happily MSM is no longer trusted but if our sources of free speech like X are censored we move a step closer to Russia and China where the state is the only voice allowed.”

“This past year i have seen too much. Israel is America’s most loyal ally and the only Democracy in the Middle East. It is fighting Iran on 7 fronts and yet it can no longer trust the US. Anti semitism in America is reaching levels not seen since pre WWII,” he noted in his X post. “And there seems to be a war against freedom of speech. Happily MSM is no longer trusted but if our sources of free speech like X are censored we move a step closer to Russia and China where the state is the only voice allowed. I know America will continue to be great under the Dems or Trump. And yet i think America and Israel will be stronger under Trump. My vote doesnt matter since i live in a one party state. But i feel its important that i state my position anyway.” He also included a video in his post where Trump threatened to move against Hamas, which attacked Israel a year ago on Oct. 7.

I am voting for Trump.

I have been a lifelong Dem, supporting the past 4 presidential campaigns at $1m each (including Biden/Harris).

Pincus is part of a growing group of Silicon Valley billionaires and investors who have shifted their allegiance from the Democratic Party to openly support Trump. Chamath Palihapitiya, another Bay Area billionaire who has previously donated over $1 million to Democrats, has also voiced strong support for Trump in recent months. Shaun Maguire, a partner at Silicon Valley venture capital firm Sequoia Capital who contributed to Hillary Clinton’s campaign in 2016, announced a $300,000 donation to Trump in May, citing his support for Israel as a key reason for his decision and writing that “somehow the Biden administration has chosen to cuddle up to Iran while driving Saudi Arabia and Israel away.”

Elon Musk, one of the most notable billionaires backing Trump, has historically contributed money fairly equally to both Democrats and Republicans. His largest contribution prior to 2023 was a $50,000 donation to Democrat Rahm Emanuel in 2015, according to Bloomberg. However, Musk has intensified his support for Republicans recently. The multi-industry mogul reportedly donated $289,100 to a Super PAC aimed at supporting House Republicans. In addition to making multiple campaign appearances with Trump, Musk has also offered to award $1 million to a different voter each day if they sign a petition pledging their support for the First and Second Amendments.
