The individual who attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump apparently used the controversial alt-right-favored social media platform Gab to disseminate messages “in support of President Biden,” according to the platform’s founder. Gab CEO Andrew Torba stated that he was informed on Wednesday that Thomas Matthew Crooks “may have had an account on our platform” after receiving “an emergency disclosure request from a law enforcement agency.”
The account @epicmicrowave — which Torba emphasized he has been “unable to confirm” was definitely Crooks’ — “posted on the site nine (9) times total,” he tweeted just 30 minutes after getting the law enforcement request. “While the account made very few posts on the site, the majority of them were in support of President Biden,” said the CEO of the platform launched in 2016 as a free-speech alternative to then-Twitter, now X, the New York Post noted. “A number of posts in particular expressed support for President Biden’s COVID lockdowns, border policies and executive orders.”
In one, the poster mocked someone sharing an election projection, writing in February 2021: “Didn’t you also think Biden would lose in a landslide yeah I would not be very confident in your election predictions.” In another thread, a user supported Biden’s border policies by referencing a study that analyzed crime statistics among undocumented immigrants, legal immigrants, and American citizens in Texas.
“Biden executive orders don’t incentivize human trafficking as human traffickers aren’t interested in citizenships, likewise the majority of illegal immigrants are not criminals and in fact some studies (such as the one linked below) show lower rates of crime committed by these individuals,” the poster wrote. “It is also unclear if the extensive path to citizenship is in fact effective at routing out potential bad actors hence why there is a review of that system,” the user added.
Torba said he was “disclosing this information at significant personal and business risk.” He added: “If the past is any guide, defying the D.C. consensus by publishing the first definitive evidence that the shooter was a Biden supporter — something Democrats and their media allies have tried to cover up and deny at every turn — has a high probability of resulting in significant political and media backlash.” Torba concluded: “We have saved the account data pending receipt of a search warrant.”
Dr. Ronny Jackson, who served as then-President Donald Trump’s White House physician, declared in a letter on Saturday that the 45th president is recovering well from the assassination attempt and described it as a miracle that he’s alive.
“I have been with President Trump since that time, and I have evaluated and treated his wound daily,” Jackson said in the letter. “He is doing well. As reported and witnessed by the entire world, he sustained a gunshot wound to the right ear from a high powered rifle used by the would be assassin.”
Jackson mentioned that Trump is still experiencing “intermittent bleeding,” which requires a dressing to be in place. However, Trump is otherwise doing fine, although he still needs to have a dressing in place, similar to the one he wore at the Republican National Convention last week. Trump and his running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance, held their first rally together since the assassination attempt on Saturday in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Jackson also reported in his letter that the bullet “came less than a quarter of an inch” from entering Trump’s head, producing a “2 cm wide wound that extended down the cartilaginous surface of the ear.” The Texas Democrat added there was “initially significant bleeding,” which resulted in “marked swelling” of Trump’s “entire upper ear.”
“In summary, former President Trump is doing well, and he is recovering as expected from the gunshot wound sustained last Saturday afternoon,” Jackson wrote. “I am extremely thankful his life was spared. It is an absolute miracle he wasn’t killed.”
