Mark Fitzpatrick, the owner of Old State Saloon in Idaho, has started a promotion called “Heterosexual Awesomeness Month” as a response to LGBTQ Pride Month. The event, which features discounts and complimentary beer for individuals and couples, aims to celebrate heterosexuality throughout June.

The saloon has recently introduced ‘Heterosexual Awesomeness’ merchandise in addition to the discounts. Fitzpatrick reported that the past week marked the highest Monday sales in the history of Old State Saloon since the announcement, Fox News reported.

At Old State Saloon, different promotions cater to heterosexual customers throughout the week during this month. On Mondays, men dressed in what is considered typical heterosexual attire can enjoy free beer. Wednesdays offer a 15% discount on the total bill for any heterosexual couple. Additionally, Thursdays are reserved for heterosexual women, who receive happy hour pricing all day.

“I was thinking of a way that we could celebrate the other side of sexuality, heterosexuality, the way God designed it,” Fitzpatrick told Fox News. “Everything that comes with the month of June is not something that I’m really eager to celebrate. I’m Christian. I follow what the Bible says.”

“I love people. I love all types of people and everything. But when you love people, it doesn’t mean that you have to necessarily get behind everything they decide to do,” he explained. “Especially with the way things have been going the last few years, as far as how extreme it gets in June.”

Earlier this week, one couple traveled an extra 400 miles just to visit Old State Saloon and show their support for “Heterosexual Awesomeness Month,” Fox reported.

Since 1970, Gay Pride Month has been observed every June to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan, a pivotal event that ignited the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement. Originally a single event in New York, the observance has grown over the years into a month-long series of events worldwide. However, Gay Pride Month has also faced criticism and opposition from various groups who believe it promotes values that contradict traditional family structures and societal norms.

“We got close to June… you get that feeling of full on extremism and everything that gets shoved in our face everyday,” Fitzpatrick told One America News on Thursday. “I thought what could we do that is something different that would celebrate God’s design for man and woman, and we came up with ‘Heterosexual Awesomeness Month.’” He added in regards to any potential controversy: “We say bring it in, let’s talk about it, let’s have a real conversation.”
