Never-before-released footage of the January 6, 2021, incident at the U.S. Capitol Building shows a very different situation for then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi than the California Democrat has publicly portrayed.

The video footage, obtained by Just the News, shows Pelosi, surrounded by perhaps dozens of armed plainclothes security calmly exiting the building through a secret corridor as her daughter filmed it all.

“Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has described having to evacuate a riotous Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021 as traumatic,” Just the News noted.

“But Capitol Police security footage obtained by Just the News shows the long-time Democrat leader exited Hollywood-style from the home of Congress that fateful day with her daughter filming her as security officers tried to guide her through a secret safe passage corridor,” the outlet added.

Meanwhile, Steve Sund, the former Capitol Police chief who was dismissed following the tragic events of January 6th, criticized Pelosi for impeding the evacuation process from the U.S. Capitol on that day by allowing her daughter Alexandra to film her departure.

According to Sund, the act served as a “distraction” that needlessly burdened the security detail responsible for Pelosi’s safety.

“When you look at the footage, what you need to realize is a protective detail is specifically for the protectee. You’re there, you’re protecting the protectee,” Sund said on the Just the News Not Noise TV show Thursday night.

“Now, Capitol Police statutorily do have the authority to protect family members. And it’s my understanding the person holding the camera was Pelosi’s daughter. But she’s there in the position of being media,” he added.

“The protective detail isn’t there to protect media and whoever else was there with her for the sole purpose of videotaping creates a major distraction for the protective detail,” he said. “You know, they don’t train to protect those additional people.”
