Country music legend Dolly Parton brought down the house — and brought a red hue to the face of mega-star Garth Brooks — when she cracked a joke about a “threesome.”
During the opening monologue at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas, to kick of the Academy of Country Music Awards show on Thursday, Brooks honored Parton as the “G.O.A.T. or the “greatest of all time.”
Dolly came out on the stage pulling a real-life goat in a cart, and said, “Did I hear you say you were looking for a goat? I think someone needs to come take her ba-a-a-ack.”
She added, “That was such a ba-a-a-ad joke!”
Of Brooks, Parton said, “He changed the name of country music forever. In a flash, he became one of the biggest stars of all time.” In response, Brooks said of Parton, “I think I speak for everybody — not just in Texas but around the world — when I say we will always love you.”
Shortly thereafter, Parton remarked that she was a “hall pass” for Brooks and his long-time wife, country music star Trisha Yearwood.
“I just had a thought,” Parton said. “I know why you’re doing the goat thing. I think it stands for ‘Garth organized a threesome.’”
Brooks got all red in the face and responded, “And I thought I couldn’t love you anymore.”
